Financial Help

Every year, CHF 20 out of each participant’s participation fee is allocated to the solidarity fund. The solidarity fund is used to financially support several participants from less privileged or underrepresented countries. The allocation of financial aid is based on merit and demonstration of need.

The financial allowances we potentially grant are the following:

  • Exemption of the participation fee
  • Partial or complete payment of accommodation costs
  • Partial or complete re-funding of the travel costs

These different aids can also be combined.

How can I apply for financial aid?

Participants may obtain financial help only if they can show that they have tried finding other sources of financial support, such as their university, a foundation or a fundraising campaign with a MUN group. Participants wishing to apply for financial aid will have to indicate the same on the registration form, and must be willing to present certain documents to our recruitment team. Financial assistance can only be granted after some deliberation.

Please note also that financial aid is primarily based on need and demonstration of merit, and therefore, GIMUN can only support a limited number of participants.

Important: Financial aid, if granted, will be paid as reimbursement during or after the Annual Conference and not as a prepayment.

If you are applying for Bloc Representative, Ambassador or Delegate, please upload a seperate motivation letter for financial aid on the registration form online.
If you are applying for journalist, interpreter or translator, please include this in the e-mail you send.
