The GIMUN Association
The Geneva International Model United Nations (GIMUN) is a Geneva based Non Governmental Organization in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council. Run entirely by students, its aim is to promote the ideals and principles of the United Nations by giving students a chance to participate in educative events. The GIMUN organises a variety of activities throughout the year including a one-week annual conference, simulating several United Nations committees.
The GIMUN Annual Conference
The annual conference is one of the first bilingual models of international conferences and takes place in the “Palais des Nations”, the former headquarters of the League of Nations and the present United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). Around two hundred students from all continents gather to simulate different bodies and agencies of the United Nations system.
The aim is to educate students about the work of the United Nations, to train their negotiation skills and to provide youth a platform to discuss and formulate findings and initiatives regarding pressing global issues.
