Members of the GIMUN board to participate in the first ever Global Model UN

Besides facilitating the organisation of the Global Model UN in Geneva as the only professional Model UN located in the Swiss city, two members of the GIMUN board, Faraz Merchant and Daniel Walter have been selected to participate as senior staff members during the simulation. Faraz Merchant will be one of the Vice-Presidents of the General Assembly and head delegate of Sudan, currently holding the chairmanship of the G77. Daniel Walter was selected earlier this year as Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and has participated in a workshop New York in March this year. read more …

We proudly represent the new Board of the GIMUN Association whose members were elected at the Ordinary General Assembly on Thursday Mai 14, 2009.

  • Finance and Fundraising: Fawaz Hussain
  • Secretaries General: Vikram Singh and Faraz Merchant

Minor changes in the statutes as well as the admission of 2 new members were approved.

GIMUN U.S. Chapter keeps on going

After the first event ‘Working at the UN’, held on February 3 and because of a huge success also on February 13, 2009, the U.S. Chapter organized a second field trip to the UN Headquarters (UNHQ) in New York on March 4, 2009.

This event was organized together with the student organization New York University International Law Society (NYU-ILS). The information and positive feedback of the first event convinced NYU-ILS to contact the U.S. Chapter for a possible cooperation of the organization of their yearly visit to the UNHQ.  read more …

GIMUN 2009 – Recapitulation of the Secretary General

The 10th Annual GIMUN Conference drew to a close after a week of strenuous hours, ardent debate, considerate compromises, unlimited commitment and fervour from both participants and staff. The committees treated an entire gamut of subjects: ranging from issues related to peace and security, the world economic system and human rights, to the environment, international law and history; bringing together keen youthful minds of all backgrounds and cultures.  read more …

One Week to See Farther – Recapitulation of the Conference Manager

One week, of work, exhaustion, resolutions, celebrations and numerous new acquaintances. In this brief an intensive review of the week has been made. Despite being an unfavourable year for fundraising, 200 students from the four corners of the world came together to discuss and debate in the very heart of the UN - Palais des Nations, with great and sustained weather.

We also had the opportunity to invite speakers of a high calibre who shared their expertise and experience on the different topics addressed. The participants were greatly appreciative and highly moved.  read more …

First U.S. Chapter – Yale event

UN Headquarters, New York

The first Yale event of the U.S. Chapter proved to be an exciting experience. Ten Yale students committed themselves to a full-day study trip to the United Nations, which was focused on peace and security. The group consisted of both undergraduate and graduate students; most students were U.S. citizens, but there were also students from Canada, U.K., Japan, and Korea. read more …
