Be a Chairperson at GIMUN 2009
Dear Friends,
I have the pleasure of informing you that recruitment for chairpersons for the GIMUN 2009 Conference is now open. As a chairperson you will be required to effectively shoulder the following responsibilities:
o Conduct and moderate the committee sessions according to the rules of procedure
o Facilitate and mobilise debate
o Choose topics with the sg
o Conduct extensive research on the chosen topics
The position of a chairperson is exciting yet demanding. It provides applicants with the unique chance of furthering their leadership and organisational skills and offers a deeper insight into the workings of the United Nations Organisation.
The following committees will be simulated at GIMUN 2009:
o Security Council
o Economic and Social Council
o Human Rights Council
o General Assembly 6th Committee – Legal
o Historic Security Council
o Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
If you are keen and motivated, speak fluent English and/or French, and have a global horizon, send your applications, with if possible a resume and a short motivation letter, at the earliest (and not later than the 15th August) to:

GIMUN 09: New Board elected!
Felix Stähli (President), Willis Palermo (Finance & Fundraising), Martin Staub (Conference Manager)
21st May 2008: At the annual General Assembly of the GIMUN-Association, the members have elected the board which has been proposed by the Excom 08.
Additionally, the members have also approved of the GIMUN 08, a revision of the statuts including some minor changements as well as the admission of around 20 new members!

The
Geneva International Model United Nations (GIMUN) is a Geneva based association run entirely by students from all over the world who share an interest in and seek to promote the idea of the United Nations, especially amongst youth.
Since July 20th 2007, 15:23 GMT, the GIMUN is also an “
UN-accredited NGO in Special Consultative Status to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) ”. It’s the first time in the history of the UN that a MUN has been granted this status. (

The core-event of the GIMUN is the one-week annual conference simulating several United Nations committees, taking place in early spring of each year. (

The NGO-status now gives us the necessary tools to also increase our activities during the year and therefore bring the UN closer to the youth! (
