DELEGATION MEMBER

  • Department Name: Delegation

  • Time Commitment: 4/hours on average. Delegation meetings expected weekly.

  • Important Note: As a student association, all roles within GIMUN are unpaid volunteer positions.

Role Description

  • As a Delegation Member you are expected to represent your assigned country within simulated UN committees, actively engage in diplomatic debates, negotiations, and resolution drafting to promote a realistic and intellectually challenging environment for addressing global issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive research and preparation on assigned topics and the policies of the designated country you are representing.

  • Write a detailed and policy-aligned position paper to clearly articulate your country’s stance on the chosen committee issue.

  • Engage actively in formal and informal debates, collaborating strategically with other delegates to advance your country’s interests.

  • Draft, negotiate, and amend resolutions with collaborators in an effort to address the simulated committee agenda.

  • Uphold GIMUN’s commitment to creating a respectful, realistic, and intellectually challenging simulation environment.

Candidate Profile & Outcomes

  • Strong interest in international relations, diplomacy, and global affairs.

  • Excellent research and critical thinking skills.

  • Proficiency in public speaking and formal debate (or strong motivation to develop these skills).

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, team-oriented, and diplomatic environment.

  • Written communication skills are required for drafting formal documents (position papers, resolutions).
