FINANCE TEAM MEMBER

  • Department Name: Delegation

  • Time Commitment: 4/hours on average. Delegation meetings expected weekly.

  • Important Note: As a student association, all roles within GIMUN are unpaid volunteer positions.

Role Description

  • As a member of the Finance Team you are expected to support GIMUN’s Finance Team through participating in fundraising activities, acquiring sponsorships, and tracking expenditures. Moreover, you are expected to participate in the Finance Team’s collective efforts of ensuring GIMUN’s financial compliance and transparency across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and sending professional emails to existing and potential sponsors.

  • Identifying and approaching new sponsors for financial or in-kind support.

  • Researching opportunities for monetary sponsorships and contributions of goods (goodies, materials, services).

  • ⁠Preparing and submitting funding requests to the CGTF (Commission de Gestion des Taxes Fixes, Université de Genève) for GIMUN’s internal events.

  • ⁠Attending CGTF sessions to present and defend funding applications.

  • Managing the budget and providing necessary funds for the Annual Conference. 

  • Supervising the financial planning process for the Annual Conference in collaboration with the Organising Committee. 

  • Handling logistical tasks such as booking hotels and managing cost-related arrangements. 

  • Collaborating closely with Events, PR, Presidency, and other departments requiring financial coordination. 

  • ⁠Ensuring financial transparency, compliance, and proper documentation within GIMUN. 

  • Maintaining clear communication with the Executive Board regarding financial updates. 

Candidate Profile & Outcomes

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/spreadsheet/similar tools is required because the candidate must be able to track budgets, expenditures and reimbursements.

  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting professional sponsorship requests and emails.

  • High degree of integrity, responsibility, and attention to detail when handling financial data.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within the Finance Team as well as other departments.

  • Interest in finance, fundraising, sponsorship management, and non-profit financial administration.

  • Motivation to contribute to GIMUN’s mission of upholding financial standards.

  • Prior experience in finance or related studies is an asset, but not mandatory.
