HR TEAM MEMBER

  • Department Name: Delegation

  • Time Commitment: 4/hours on average. Delegation meetings expected weekly.

  • Important Note: As a student association, all roles within GIMUN are unpaid volunteer positions.

Role Description

  • As an HR Team Member at GIMUN, you are expected to blend communications through journalism and newsletter writing with traditional HR competencies such as conducting interviews and tracking basic people analytics. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Write engaging articles for the monthly member newsletter on diverse topics of your choice.

  • Attend at least once per semester the GIMUN Delegation session as a journalist and write an article on it.

  • Maintain and update the internal GIMUN member contact list and organizational data.

  • Provide assistance to other Department Heads at GIMUN by participating and helping to conduct interviews when recruiting new members.

  • Serve as an accessible “Safe Person” contact, offering confidential support and guidance to GIMUN members as part of the association's welfare system (The allocated “Safe Person” is usually a Head but an HR Team Member you could be potentially included).

Candidate Profile & Outcomes

  • Excellent written communication skills (in English and/or French) and a passion for journalism and writing. 

  • Strong organizational skills for administrative tasks and managing the member list. 

  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

  • Responsibly meeting the monthly newsletter deadlines.

  • Interest in internal organizational dynamics, recruitment, and member support/welfare.

  • Empathy, discretion, and reliability required for the “Safe Person” role.

Development Opportunities / Learning Outcomes

  • Gain unique experience in this unique  intersection of journalism, internal communications, and HR support. 

  • Develop essential interviewing and interpersonal skills by assisting with member recruitment.

  • Create a portfolio of published articles and practical experience in member welfare/confidential support.

  • Enhance administrative and organizational management skills by maintaining key internal documents. 

  • Build a professional network through exchanges with GIMUN members and its partners.
