GLOSSARY MANAGER

  • Department Name: Translation

  • Time Commitment: 1-3 hours/week

  • Important Note: As a student association, all roles within GIMUN are unpaid volunteer positions.

Role Description

  • As the Glossary Manager you are expected to work alongside GIMUN’S Translation Team to ensure linguistic consistency across all official GIMUN documentation by developing, maintaining, and expanding GIMUN’s glossary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systematically expand the GIMUN Glossary of key terms, names, and concepts relevant to the organization and its activities.

  • Keep the Glossary up to date with new terminology as GIMUN projects and events evolve.

  • Coordinate with the team members (if need be) to ensure the Glossary meets the needs of translators.

  • Serve in a subsidiary function to the team, assisting with the translation of GIMUN’s website, newsletters, and official communications.

Candidate Profile & Outcomes

  • Proficiency in both English and French (a must), Spanish (highly desirable). 

  • Attention to detail and data organization.

  • Efficiency in following and maintaining the current Glossary’s methodology.

  • Efficient team-work and communication skills.

  • Interest in terminology management, linguistic technology, or translation quality assurance.

  • Motivation to contribute to GIMUN’s mission and uphold linguistic standards.

  • Prior experience in translation or linguistic studies is an asset, but not mandatory.

  • Gain specialized experience in terminology management and database development, a highly valuable skill in professional translation and linguistic fields.

  • Enhance research skills by identifying and standardizing international relations and GIMUN organizational terms.
